Dunrie is BlueConduit’s VP of Marketing. Here’s a quick Q&A with Dunrie.
Why did you join BlueConduit?
Water is life. Access to clean water is a right.
Simply put, I admired what BlueConduit has already accomplished and wanted to help expand the platform and help local officials and engineering companies Get the Lead Out across North America.
What professional experience and expertise do you bring to BlueConduit?
I have a nonlinear career and BlueConduit brings together many elements of my interests and talents.
I have a Ph.D. in Biology, specifically plant ecology, so statistics as well as systems-thinking is part of my training and world-view. Throughout my career, I have worked in science and software startups in many roles, always grounded in clearly communicating technical things and making things easier for customers through software.
In my work at BlueConduit, I get to apply what I’ve learned to make a difference for communities across the nation.
What does a day in the life of BlueConduit’s VP of Marketing look like?
I am happy to say that I am always learning.
The product marketing team lives in the overlap of customer needs, market opportunities, and technology. I get to work with our team of talented creatives and problem solvers. A highlight of my day is when I get to connect with a customer.
The hard part of the job is saying “no” or “not yet”, and yet everything cannot have top priority. Trade-offs exist and everything cannot be simultaneously accomplished or maximized.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
Each week, I look forward to one night on the weekend where we host or attend a small dinner party with close friends. I knit, play with my cat, and do yoga. Outdoors, I walk in all weather, and in good weather I love to swim, kayak, sail, and fish (although I prefer the boat ride to the fishing) – pretty much anything on the water.
