Meet The Team: Carrie Shunia

Carrie is BlueConduit’s Marketing Manager. Get to know Carrie through this quick Q&A:

Why did you join BlueConduit?

I feel most fulfilled when I know that my work is making an impact beyond company revenue. So, I was incredibly excited at the opportunity to amplify the BlueConduit mission – helping water systems and their partners manage lead pipe identification and replacement by predicting the likelihood of lead for every address where the service line material is unknown. I love the fact that our model has helped communities improve planning, reduce cost, and enable more equitable replacement plans based on risk of lead exposure. The environmental and social impact is huge, and definitely something I wanted to be part of.

What professional experience and expertise do you bring to BlueConduit?

I have nearly 10 years professional experience in the IT infrastructure/cloud management and financial services sectors, working in a variety of marketing channels. My specialties include copywriting, developing marketing strategy, social media, product marketing and event management.

What does a day in the life of BlueConduit’s Marketing Manager look like?

In a nutshell, I oversee the day-to-day marketing operations of BlueConduit and make sure our communications are running smoothly and are aligned with BlueConduit’s overall business goals. That involves many different things on any given day. At any given point, I may be writing content for our blog, supporting our sales team with events, approving content for our social media channels, or all of the above. I also work closely with the sales team to make sure they have what they need to talk to customers and prospects.

What work accomplishments are you most proud of and what goals have you prioritized for this year?

I’ve done a lot in my career so far, so there’s quite a bit to be proud of! Each job I’ve had has been a new industry for me, and joining BlueConduit and the water industry is no exception. To that end, I’m looking forward to learning more about what drives water utilities and their engineering partners. I’m also looking forward to learning more about the statistical modeling BlueConduit uses and the impact it has on water infrastructure and safety. Math was never my strong suit in school, so this is definitely new territory for me!

For 2024, my main goal is making sure that our marketing channels, content and strategy are aligned to BlueConduit’s overall business goals and objectives. My job is to support our sales and delivery teams (along with data science and engineering as needed) so they can grow our client base, positively impact revenue and create amazing customer experiences. On top of all that, we’ve got some new products launching in the summer so I am focusing a lot of my time on the go-to-market materials needed to make these products successful.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I have two young sons, so they demand quite a bit of my attention when I’m not working! I like to spend time with them at the park near our house or visiting family in the area. When my husband and I have some (rare) time to ourselves, we like to explore new restaurants in the Metro Detroit area where we live, or relax at home by playing games or watching a TV show together. We are also big Lions football fans, and I’m pleased to say we’re finally starting to reap the benefits of that!
