Jackson is BlueConduit’s Frontend Developer. Here’s a quick Q&A with Jackson.
Why did you join BlueConduit?
At first, I started contracting with BlueConduit a few hours per week because I liked being able to work for a company with a great social mission. I really grew to enjoy working with the team and was inspired by the company’s leadership, so I was excited when BlueConduit offered to bring me on full time. I was eager to make a large impact at a startup and learn a lot along the way.
What professional experience and expertise do you bring to BlueConduit?
I have a few years of experience working with complex hospital software systems at Epic Systems. I also have a master’s in human-computer interaction, and worked previously as a UX Designer. I enjoy linking product design and frontend web development.
What does a day in the life of BlueConduit’s Frontend Developer look like?
Lots of my time as a frontend engineer is spent coding individually or in pairs, as well as reading and researching to keep up with trends in the web development and design system community. I also spend time weighing in on product designs from a user-centered perspective.
What work accomplishments are you most proud of and what goals have you prioritized for this year?
Open sourcing Copper, our design system, was lots of fun and a great learning experience. We’re working towards making it more mature this year so that we can have a powerful UI library to build our applications on top of.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I like to spend time reading, exercising, and cooking when I’m at home. I also spend time coaching competitive drumlines in the SE Michigan area.
