Meet the Team: Natalie Weingart
Natalie is BlueConduit’s Software Engineer. Here’s a quick Q&A with Natalie.
Why did you join BlueConduit?
I discovered BlueConduit during my post-college job search. I knew I wanted to be at a company with a mission I could support with my whole heart that also had a reputation for treating their employees with kindness and respect. BlueConduit fits both of these criteria. Since joining the company, I’ve experienced firsthand the warm, friendly team environment and am grateful to be working with people who share my passion for BlueConduit’s mission.
What professional experience and expertise do you bring to BlueConduit?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Computer Science in May 2021, and throughout my college experience I focused heavily on software engineering while also getting an introduction to machine learning concepts. Before BlueConduit, I was a Web Developer at my school’s IT center and worked as a software engineer on a research project revolving around the use of AI in tutoring and teaching.
What does a day in the life of BlueConduit’s Software Engineer look like?
A typical day involves hopping on Gather to be in a team space and then working together on our product software. There are often meetings where we touch base on what we’re working on, discuss roadblocks we’re encountering, and plan out our future work. My favorite days are sprint demos days because that’s when I get to see all of our hard work come to life and celebrate how our product is coming along.
What work accomplishments are you most proud of and what goals have you prioritized for this year?
I’m very proud of how quickly I was able to integrate into the company and jump into important work on our software. While scary at first, I have grown so much as a developer in my first five months at BlueConduit and my goal is to continue learning and growing. I was able to pick up Vue very easily and look forward to continuing to build expertise in that coding language. I would also like to strengthen my design skills and gain exposure to other areas of our work like backend development and machine learning.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I like to play video games, watch movies, and take care of my two guinea pigs. Lately, I’ve been playing lots of Sims 4 and Minecraft, which are two of my favorites. My partner and I both have AMC A-lister memberships, so we make a point to see lots of movies together. My most recent favorite has been Nightmare Alley. And my guinea pigs get lots of snuggles and attention from me. When I’m not playing with them, I can be found cleaning their cages and making sure they have tons of fruits and veggies to munch on.
